Polo - Sport of Kings

Polo Polo Polo Polo Polo

Playing polo is one of the fastest and most exciting ball sports available for all and it is growing in popularity throughout the world. Polo is an adrenaline driven sport that can become almost totally addictive. Perhaps this is because there is very little to equal the thrill of chasing a ball at tremendous speed on an agile pony, whilst riding off your opponents. The other reason for its new found popularity is that playing polo, even at a high level, is no longer the preserve of the well-heeled elite.

These days there are polo clubs and polo opportunities, to suit all levels of player, spread throughout the UK. There are now even companies that will arrange intensive polo courses in Argentina where you can get at least 18 instructed hours per week in the saddle. This is an excellent place to learn the game since Argentina is frequently referred to as the home of polo, producing many of the world’s best players and finest polo ponies.

The great thing about polo is that it is very social sport, open to almost anyone who enjoys team games, can stay aboard an active horse and has a good feel for ball sports. A large number of polo players in the making, now cut their teeth by playing for their local pony club; however it is not at all unusual for many mature men and women to take up polo later in life. So if you fancy the challenge and the thrill of riding a polo pony and taking part in an exciting tactical team sport – go for it!
