Choosing wallpaper and soft furnishing fabrics can be time consuming and overwhelming; sometimes there is simply too much choice. Before decorating any room consider the furniture and overall style of the room, the amount of natural light and the expected everyday wear and tear. If you don’t have a huge budget you can mix and match so that cheaper wallpaper for example could be enhanced by sumptuous fabric or even a beautiful frieze round the top.
Take your time before making decisions you may have to live with for years. Borrow samples or books and drape fabric from windows or chairs and leave sample books open for a few days to see if you still like the designs and colours you have chosen. Be sure to check colours in both daylight and artificial light and remember large or bold designs seen in a small sample are going to look twice as dominating on mass.
Finally when you come to order your wallpaper do check that all the rolls are from the same batch number – wallpaper is notorious for varying in colour with different batches and you certainly don’t want to create a two-tone or stripy effect on your walls!
