As well as being the London residence Archbishop of Canterbury, who has owned it since about 1200, Lambeth Palace is also one of the few medieval buildings left in London. A last survivor of the great London seats of the Bishops the palace is located along the South Bank of the Thames. The Palace Library is freely available to members of the public, at the discretion of the Librarian, and while the Palace is not open to the general public, tours may be arranged by contacting the bookings department |
